Currently in beta testing is a Pediatric Training Simulation that integrates the VITL World with a Learning Management System. The VITL team has created a curriculum guide for the simulation that includes an overview of the simulation, assessments, and pre/post surveys of trainees.

The SIM takes place in a Nurse Practitioner’s office where a baby is brought in by her mother with a serious infection. Throughout the simulation, the NP trainee responds to live events including

  1. Getting the History is a process of interacting with the mother to identify symptoms,
  2. Completing an Exam of the baby,
  3. Differential Diagnostics
  4. Testing and Ordering Procedures
  5. Prescription

The trainee is assessed on communication, leadership, decision-making, skills, and knowledge. The assessment of learning includes formative and summative assessments designed by Dr. Laura Kuensting, an expert pediatric NP.
